An Autumn Evening to Remember at Lily & Myrtle

What a night! On Thursday 22nd October we opened our doors for Hello Autumn, a free evening celebrating the most beautiful season of the year. With 85 guests registered, the place was buzzing from start to finish. Best of all, it was a joy to see Kate back in her element, sharing her love of flowers with a room full of people.

Guests began arriving at The Florist’s Coffee House at the Mayford Centre from 6:30pm, and each one was greeted with a glass of Prosecco. The shop was filled with seasonal blooms and beautiful autumn wreaths, and everyone had the chance to browse, chat and pick up something special to take home. Our coffee house was open throughout the evening too, serving snacks, charcuterie cups, a tempting spread of cakes and, of course, plenty of good coffee. It was lovely to see both sides of Lily & Myrtle, the flower shop and the coffee house, coming together for one cosy autumn evening.

At 7:30pm we all made our way over to The Florists Workroom in the football club for the main event. Kate gave a live autumn floral demonstration, showing how each design comes together step by step, from choosing the right seasonal flowers and foliage to adding those finishing touches that make an arrangement really sing. Watching her work is always a treat, and the room was full of great questions and lots of inspiration.

Later in the evening, Kate shared her top florist tips, the simple tricks she has picked up over the years that make all the difference, whether you’re arranging a bunch from the shop or creating something of your own at home. Everyone who registered for the evening was also entered into our prize draw, and to round off the night one lucky guest won a place on one of our Christmas workshops. We can’t wait to welcome them back in December!

A new home for future events

This event marked a wonderful new chapter for us. After our time at the barn, it felt fantastic to be hosting again, and we’re thrilled to have found such a brilliant space for future events and workshops in The Florists Workroom at the football club. There’s plenty of room to gather, create and learn together, and we already have lots of ideas for how to use it.

We’d love for this to grow into a real community project, bringing together our flower shop, our coffee house and our local community. Hello Autumn was just the beginning, and there is so much more to come!
