A Hydrangea Hug – The most beautiful bloom.

Have you noticed this year has been a year where the gardens are full of amazing Hydrangeas.

Hydrangeas are wonderful blooms that comes to us in many shades and tones from the deepest reds to the brightest blues.

Mixed in an arrangement or used as a standalone flower, they can be tricky as a cut flower and need to be conditioned with care.

First, remove all of their leaves except the two nearest the flower head as naturally the plant will protect their foliage rather than the bloom.

Hydrangeas are as beautiful dry as they are fresh, if you’re lucky enough to have them growing in your garden now is a good time to cut flowers to enjoy through the winter months.

Cut their stems and put into a deep container of warm water to encourage them to drink.

Spray every day with a water mister and enjoy.

Knowledge passed on to me by my Mum is to place the hydrangeas in a vase with a couple of inches of water with glycerine added. Just leave the hydrangeas to drink the liquid and as they dry using this method, they end up less crunchy – it works l have tried it.
